TUCKER PODIUMS AT POCONO AND QUALIFIES FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN TOPEKA

Pocono, Pa. (August 18, 2008) – Pocono Raceway was alive this weekend with race cars, pit crews, fans and more for the 2008 Pocono Sports Car Grand Prix Double National races hosted by the Sports Car Club of America. As drivers took behind the wheel for Saturday and Sunday's races, there was one goal in mind for Scott Tucker and his team: earn two top finishes for the SCCA National Championship Runoffs.

Tucker, being respectful to divisional leaders, elected to start from the back letting the other drivers race to the championship. The competition was high during Saturday's race as the cars battled towards the championship. His first time in the Corvette and at the track, Tucker, driven like a pro, qualified well setting a record fast T1 Class lap during the race at 139.3 mph. Taking on the high-banked oval curves of the track, Tucker ran as high as 4th in the pack, but, by avoiding a late race spin by another car, he dropped back resulting in a 7th place finish.

Although Tucker's first race on Saturday was one for the team, the next race would prove to be the race to qualify for the National Championships in Topeka.

Again, Tucker started respectfully at the back of the 25 car field, letting division leaders gain points within the class championship. Thick in the battle of the T1 Class, Tucker maneuvered his way through traffic from the back of the track to the front while being respectful of others in late-season local championship battles. Tucker's quick skills behind the wheel proved that this car (and driver) was determined to make it to the championship. Tucker passed each car one by one, driving to an impressive 3rd place podium finish.

"The crew did an outstanding job. Early this year, we set a goal of racing for the National Championships in Topeka. The results and efforts from this past weekend demonstrated the commitment this team made towards reaching our goal. I would like to thank Steve Smith, Doug De Castro, Jason Walters, Johns Brooks, Ed Zabinski and David Stone and all of their families," Tucker stated.

Ed Zabinski, Tucker's co-driver in the Grand Am Rolex Series, was confident that the team would reach their goal. "Because of rule changes, this weekend's races were extremely important for us to get to Topeka in October. There was no other choice but to perform well in both. Scott is an extremely qualified driver and knows what it takes to get there, I am very proud of what our team has accomplished this season."
