Supercar Life Racing continues to impress during Grand-Am Rolex Series January Test Days
Overland Park, Kan. (January 4, 2009) - Sunday's Roar Before the Rolex 24 January Test Days at Daytona International Speedway proved to be one to watch this year, as Christophe Bouchut of the Supercar Life Racing team took the newly-debuted No. 55 Supercar Life BMW Riley Daytona Prototype to the head of the Daytona Prototype class.
Bouchut led the class with a lap time of 1:41.884 in the No. 55 Supercar Life BMW Riley Daytona Prototype, co-driven by Ferrari Challenge Series leader, Scott Tucker and Ferrari T1 National Champion, Ed Zabinski.
Over the course of the weekend the team has driven the No. 55 Daytona Prototype quickly through the field, gaining a faster pace with each lap that goes by. The car drove well in Saturday's test session with Bouchut and Tucker both behind the wheel, reaching both fastest lap times of 1:44.926 and 1:44.780.
Already having broken an unofficial circuit record of 1:39.9 during the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 October Test Days, Bouchut and the Supercar Life Racing team have proven that the No. 55 will be a leader this season.
"This car definitely has the potential to run ahead of the pack this season," said Bouchut. " We're still making some adjustments in order to prepare for this year's Rolex 24 Hour race, but we'll be there ready to run."
Over the three-day test session nearly 50 cars have entered in preparation for the 47th running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona January 24-25, the opening race in the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 season.
Concluding the three-day testing will be two sessions held for both the Rolex Series and KONI Sports Car Challenge, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, January 5. Official practice and qualifying for the 47th Rolex 24 At Daytona begins on Thursday, January 22. The race takes the green flag at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
