Driving the No. 55 Boardwalk Ferrari Supercar Life F430, Scott Tucker will start in the seventh row for Sunday's race six at Infineon Raceway. Tucker had set the fastest lap time and captured pole position in qualifying when a minor technical infraction penalized the No. 55, moving it to the back of the starting grid.
"Unfortunately, these things happen," Tucker said. "The crew has done a great job setting up the car for this weekend's races. Overnight we made a minor adjustment to the alignment of the car, so hopefully we can get back out there and take the win that we've been looking for this weekend."
The overnight adjustment may make the difference for Tucker in race six as he works to regain his lead position.
Taking over position one is Zak Brown who clocked a fastest lap time of 02:03.691 in the No. 99 F430. Brown held the lead in race five laps 1 through 13, when Ferrari of Silicon Valley teammate Henri Richard took over on lap 14.
Francesco Piovanetti was once again in the Top Five for the race, clocking in at 02:04.382, second on the grid, with Henri Richard (02:04.984), Steve Hill (02:05.923) and Richard Fant (02:05.958) rounding out the Top Five.
Yesterday's race winner, Mark McKenzie failed to make the Top Five in qualifying (02:06.355), as he will start in postion seven today. The Texan took his first win of the season on Saturday, as he passed Tucker in the remaining laps. The No. 55's rain tires had run too hot and the track's dry line had literally ruined them, causing an inevitable break in his momentum.
The Series race weekend comes to a wrap as the green flag drops for race six at 1:30 p.m. PST.
