Scott Tucker and the No. 55 Boardwalk Ferrari Supercar Life F430 Challenge car qualified in first position for Sunday's race eight in the Ferrari Challenge Series at Road America.
The qualifying session was a nail biter for the Supercar Life Racing team. Ten minutes into the session, Tucker posted the fastest time and came into pit lane to park the No. 55 car. Minutes later, Ferrari of Beverly Hills' James Henley bested Tucker's time; his fastest lap time (02:24.513) was a tenth of a second faster, pushing Tucker back to second. Mark McKenzie then beat Tucker's time, posting a fastest lap time of 02:24.610; McKenzie moved into second with Tucker behind in third.
Determined to out-run his competition, Tucker drove back on track to regain the lead position. Starting at turn 14, the No. 55 F430 Challenge car drove at an incredible pace, ripping a fastest lap time of 02:24.153, gaining six-tenths of a second over Henley's time to move back into first.
Road America's legendary 4.048-mile circuit, the Supercar Life Racing team's home track, has been the site of much success for the team so far this weekend. In Saturday's race seven Tucker qualified on pole and set a new track record, then took the field by storm, leading every lap of the race to take the checkered flag.
And now, Tucker and his team will look to claim another podium finish following today's race eight. The team currently sits in third in the championship standings with 1000 points, only 120 points behind Mark McKenzie's first place (1120 points).
"Once again, this crew put a great car together," Tucker said. "I've been very pleased with our lap times. The car is handling well all-around. After yesterday, we are that much closer to reclaiming our lead in the Series standings."
"This is a good track for Scott. As a team, we have all of the tools to get the No. 55 in a winning position," Team Manager Jeff Stone said. "Once that green flag drops, we will all be on our game to help him stay there. We are having a great weekend at our home track and we are really looking forward to having a strong run today."
Following Tucker on the grid in second and third positions are Henley and McKenzie with Mike Zoi (02:24.637) and Zak Brown (02:24.883) rounding out the Top Five.
Race eight is scheduled to begin today at 1:25 p.m. CST.
