Next Generation of Level 5 Champions Enjoy Early Success
The Daughters family and Level 5 Motorsports had a lot to celebrate last weekend. Mason and Garrett Daughters, both sponsored by Level 5 in the Kansas City Karting Association, scored their first victories of the 2010 season - and their young racing careers - on Sunday in their respective classes in Liberty, Missouri.
Mason Daughters, a 13-year-old seventh-grader, won the Tag Jr. class, almost lapping the field in the process. During the race, he set a track record for his class with a fast lap of 16.54 after qualifying on the pole.
That vaulted Mason, who drives a factory-built Parolin Racing Kart with a Parilla Leopard 125cc engine, into first place in the KCKA Tag Jr. class standings.
Garrett, 7, who races in the Tag 60 class in Liberty, qualified second but wound up taking his first checkered flag for Level 5 Motorsports. He now sits in fifth place in the Tag 60 KCKA standings.
Both of the Daughters are only part of Level 5 Motorsports' program that sponsors a total of five up-and-coming youths in their racing endeavors. The others are Austin and Sierra McCullough of Kansas City, Kansas; and Dustin Renteria, a motorcycle rider from Hollister, California.
"I could not be more proud of Mason and Garrett," said Level 5 Motorsports owner / driver Scott Tucker. "They have worked really hard and they represent Level 5 very well."
Tucker and fellow Level 5 Motorsports driver Christophe Bouchut are preparing for next month's 24 Hours of Le Mans. The two have been testing in France and will be joining Audi-backed Team Kolles for the endurance racing classic. They managed to work the prestigious event into an already packed schedule as they currently lead the American Le Mans Series LMPC point standings, while Tucker also sits atop the Ferrari Challenge series standings.
