Overland Park, Kan. (October 7, 2008) - The SCCA National Championship Runoffs has been one of the most diversified races in history that has seen some of the finest names in the racing industry. Drivers such as Bobby Rahal, Boris Said, Scott Sharp, Skip Barber and the late Paul Newman, have all been a part of one of the greatest championship events ever held.
This year, the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, held at Heartland Park in Topeka, Ks, October 6-12, will host drivers, crews and sponsors from all over the country in this landmark event.
Amongst those teams, LevelFive Motorsports' drivers Scott Tucker and Ed Zabinski will not only be competing in the T1 class with their Ferrari's, but will also be hosting a five-star hospitality event that takes the racing experience to the next level. With a customized five-star program in place, VIP guests and their families will be able to take part in a one-of-a-kind event. By transferring guests from Kansas City to Topeka and back, a personalized menu, access to victory lane, autograph session with the drivers, tours, gifts and more, this program gives existing partners and new clients a taste of sports car racing at its max.
Along with this luxury program, LevelFive Motorsports and US Bank will also be hosting a group of 250 kids and their Bigs, from both the Topeka and Kansas City area Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters will arrive at the park on race day, presented with gifts from the LevelFive Motorsports team. The group will then be provided meals along with tours of the paddock, meet and greet with the drivers and a race day experience never to forget!
Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director Micheal Lawrence is grateful for the generosity of both US Bank and LevelFive. "Our program is fortunate to have community partners such as US Bank and LevelFive, they understand that unique programming opportunities like sports car racing give our kids the chance to dream and live new experiences that help them not just today, but years down the road as they continue to grow and develop with their Bigs."
Zabinski, Tucker's co-driver in the Grand-Am Rolex Series and competitor in the T1 class, looks forward to this weekend's events. "LevelFive Motorsports is truly capable of going above and beyond in our race day programs. The SCCA event will be a great weekend had by all and I look forward to racing in the T1 class with Scott."
With preparation underway for the race on Saturday, Tucker is ready to make his mark. During practice this week, only seconds off pace, Tucker landed in the No. 3 spot while Zabinski followed in the No. 4. As weather conditions hampered the track, the LevelFive Motorsports team looks to finish strong for Saturday's race.
Tucker qualified for the National Championships at Pocono Raceway by setting a fastest race lap record and driving to an impressive podium finish. "The crew did an outstanding job in Pocono. Earlier this year, the team set a goal of racing towards the National Championships in Topeka and we achieved that goal," Tucker stated. "The results and efforts from this season have demonstrated the drive and commitment that this team has. I would like to thank Steve Smith, Doug De Castro, Jason Walters, John Brooks, Ed Zabinski, David Stone and all of their families for an incredible year of racing."
On Saturday, October 11, the T1 class with Zabinski and Tucker as participants will take place at 12:45 p.m. For more information and how to get involved with LevelFive's unique hospitality program, please contact Joe Douthitt at jdouthitt@L5ww.com.
