Overland Park, Kan. (October 29, 2008) - Great promises lie ahead for the LevelFive Motorsports Team. Team members Ed Zabinski, who recently won the T1 SCCA National Championship, Scott Tucker, Marc Goossens, 2008 Mexico City winner and triple FIA GT Champion, 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Spa, Christophe Bouchut, have hit their mark with a new No. 55 eCommLink BMW Riley Daytona Prototype.
This week the team has participated in a three-day test session at Daytona International Speedway for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Cask No. 16 October Test Days, Monday through Wednesday October 27-29.
As Monday's session began with flying colors, Goosens took the No. 55 eCommLink BMW Riley Daytona Prototype car on its first run. Steady and smooth the car drove effortless in P4 as Bouchut took over next only .6 seconds away from the quickest time. Ferrari Challenge Series driver, Tucker, was next in line taking the DP on its best run yet, only 1.5 seconds off the pace of world-class driver, Roman Dumas in the new Penske/Riley/Porsche No. 5 Daytona Prototype. Driving more than 400 miles that day, the No. 55 car proved that it will be one to watch in 2009.
Tuesday's test session continued to prove success in a spectacular manner. With very few changes, Bouchut set a quick time after only 24 laps and bested the top pole time from the 2008 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona with a lap time of 1:39.9. With a new set of tires, he ran the fastest lap of the day taking the No. 55 eCommLink BMW Riley Daytona Prototype across the finish line once again.
"This is a special track," Bouchut stated. "The DP car has taken to it very well and I believe that this car has a promising future ahead in the Daytona Prototype class. We're all very excited to learn more about this car, it's going to be an exciting season for the team in 2009. We're ready to go racing now."
Team Manager, David Stone, is enthusiastic about the new car's success. "It's been a wonderful week thus far. This car has had very little issues and we can only cross our fingers that this continues. None of the common problems you usually see with a car has found itself here in Daytona. LevelFive Motorsports is off to a very good start with a promising future ahead."
With Wednesday's session closing out the October Test Days, this team and this car can stand proudly as LevelFive Motorsports makes a new name for itself in a new class.
