Overland Park, Kan. (November 7, 2008) - Scott Tucker, driver of the No. 55 Westfund F430 Challenge car, was looking to get back to his winning ways this weekend at the Ferrari World Finals in Mugello, Italy and he did just that in front of 30,000 fans on day 1 of 3 at the historic circuit in Italy's Tuscan region.
Throughout the season, Tucker has driven the No. 55 Westfund F430 Challenge car, with perseverance and determination, taking his skills to the next level. It was prior to the Ferrari World Finals at New Jersey Motorsports Park where Tucker took his current second place position in the season championship race behind series leader, Roberto Fata.
As Thursday and Friday's final qualifying sessions fell underway, Tucker found himself in a promising and familiar position for the races this weekend, quickest on track. Taking the pole in Thursday's session, Tucker turned in a time of 2:00.798, leading the group by almost a full second. Tucker continued to lead the way in Friday morning's session qualifying once again as quickest on the 3.259 mile circuit. His qualifying times raised the bar for Race 1, proving that the No. 55 Westfund F430 Challenge car was not only here to perform, but to win.
Today's Ferrari Challenge race was a thing of beauty as the sunny skies of the Autumn beamed brightly on the team from Kansas. Feeling no pressure from behind, Tucker led from start to finish. The No. 55 Westfund F430 crossed the finish line steadfast and strong in its familiar position, first place. By taking the checkered flag in Race 1, Tucker solidified his second place position in the series championship for Ferrari North America.
"This has been an incredible season for the No. 55 Westfund Ferrari," said Tucker. "My team and I have accomplished a great deal, and I couldn't have asked for more. This is truly a rewarding experience and I can't think of a better place to celebrate a win than right here in Italy. I can't wait to get back in the car for the rest of the weekend's races."
Race 2 for the North American Ferrari Challenge will take place on Saturday, November 8 with the Finals World Challenge slated for Sunday, November 9.
In 2009, the Ferrari Challenge Series will take off full-speed beginning March 19-22 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida.
