Tucker / Level 5 Look to Remain Atop Lofty Perch in ALMS LMPC Standings

The first one-third of the American LeMans Series season has produced strong results for Scott Tucker and the Level 5 Motorsports team, the leaders in the LMPC class point standings. Things don't look to change much this weekend, especially at a track where Tucker has seen a great deal of past success.

The American LeMans Series pays a visit to the Miller Motorsports Park road course in Tooele, Utah, where Tucker won earlier this year and finished second in another race in the Ferrari Challenge Series.

"We always enjoy coming to Miller Motorsports Park," Tucker said. "It seems as if we've got a pretty good handle on the place and we know how to win here. It will be the first time we've been here in an American LeMans Series car, and that will be a bit of a challenge.

"But, we know the Level 5 team will put great cars underneath us again and that we will be up there challenging for a victory when all is said and done."

Tucker and teammate Christophe Bouchut, who lead the LMPC standings by seven points over Gunnar Jeannette and Elton Julian coming into Sunday's 2 hour, 45-minute Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix, will drive the No. 55 ORECA FLM09 prototype for Level 5.

Tucker will also pilot the No. 95 ORECA FLM09 prototype, along with veteran British driver Andy Wallace, who competed for Level 5 at Mazda Raceway Leguna Seca in May. Last month, Wallace finished third in the LMP2 class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's most prestigious and competitive sports car race. That podium finish added to an already impressive resume that includes three Rolex 24 At Daytona championships, two wins in the 12 Hours of Sebring and one Petit LeMans victory.

"That says something about Andy's ability and experience as a driver right there," Tucker said of Wallace's Le Mans podium. "That's a very difficult race with the world's best drivers participating. We're very proud to have Andy as a part of this Level 5 Motorsports team."

Miller Motorports Park is one of the longest road courses on the American LeMans Series schedule. With a 14-turn layout, the track is 3.05 miles in length.

"We know the course well," Tucker said. "Some of the corners are very challenging and you're racing into them at high speeds. There are several places on the course that give you an opportunity to pass, and that's always a good thing."

Qualifying for the LMPC class for the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix is set for 5:25 p.m. ET Saturday. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 4:35 p.m. ET Sunday with television coverage provided by SPEED.

This weekend's event is the fourth on the nine-race 2010 American LeMans Series schedule. There are remaining races at Lime Rock Park (Conn.); Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course; Road America (Wisc.); Mosport in Bowman, Ontario, Canada; and the Petit LeMans in Braselton, Georgia, to close out the season in October.
