Mason Daughters Brings Home Championship for Level 5 Motorsports

The championships are starting to pour in for Level 5 Motorsports' youth program.

Dustin Renteria recently gave Level 5 its first two championships as part of the California Motorcycle Association. This past weekend, Go-kart ace Mason Daughters, 13, followed suit by winning the Liberty Cup championship in the TaG Jr. class.

The Liberty Cup is a prestigious annual race held at the Kansas City Karting Assocation track in Liberty, Missouri. It is a winner-take-all, two-day event with four feature races. Daughters won all four races during the weekend.

"Our sponsorship of these kids is really starting to pay off," said Level 5 Motorsports team owner Scott Tucker. "We knew they had a lot of talent, and they're certainly showing that on the track.

"We're very, very proud of them. Dustin had a fantastic spring, and now Mason has turned in an outstanding performance as well. These are really just the first steps for these kids to compete at higher levels."

In the process of winning the Liberty Cup championship, Daughters set the track qualifying record of 16.61, besting the old mark of 16.80. That record includes all adult classes since the track opened in 1954, and includes a trophy he will hold until his record is broken.

Daughters also ran an unofficial lap of 16.40 in practice during the weekend.

Mason's brother, Garrett Daughters, 7, scored a victory and a fourth-place finish last weekend. At the track in Liberty, he races against youths that are up to four years older.

"What a great Father's Day present, from both my sons," Greg Daughters said.

Mason Daughters will next get an opportunity to race in an event at Heartland Park Topeka. He and Garrett will continue to race in the Kansas City Karting Association's TaG USA Series in Independence, Missouri.

Both of the Daughters brothers and Renteria are part of Level 5 Motorsports' program that sponsors a total of five up-and-coming youths in their racing endeavors. Others in the program are Austin and Sierra McCullough of Kansas City, Kansas.
