Tucker Finds Success at Homestead-Miami Speedway; Earns 50th Career win

The early stages of Scott Tucker's grueling race schedule for 2011 continued with major success at Homestead-Miami Speedway last weekend. The Level 5 Motorsports owner/driver came away with a pair of poles and a victory in two national Sports Car Club of America events at the South Florida track. The win also marked the 50th career victory for Tucker.

"To reach a milestone like this is tremendous," Tucker said. "We've taken on a lot of great competitors in so many different series that getting 50 wins is something we're proud of."

The races at Homestead-Miami and the previous week's national races at Sebring continue Tucker's preparation for the SCCA National Runoffs later in the year where he is two-time National Champion. Tucker is the reigning T-1 class champion and is competing in the faster STO class this year.

At Homestead, Tucker scored the top qualifying spot in Race No. 1 with a lap of 1:25.06 -- six-tenths-of-a-second faster than the second place car and 11 seconds faster than the third place car. He then went out and won the race. He earned another pole for the second race, however a high-speed tire failure ended his day after only nine laps. Remarkably, Tucker was able to save the car from serious damage.

"Any time you have a tire failure at 170 mph, it's going to get your attention," Tucker said. "You hate to have those things happen, of course, but that comes with the territory. We'll rebound as always and look for our next chance to get back out there in SCCA competition."

His busy race schedule in 2011 includes next weekend's prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. The team is looking to back up its impressive podium finish from 2010.

Then, Tucker and Level 5 will look to build on their 2010 American Le Mans Series LMPC Championship by making the move to that series' LMP2 class. The team will field two Honda-powered Lola entries for a full season of ALMS competition.

To top it off, Tucker will once again race a full schedule in the Ferrari Challenge Series where, as the most successful driver in that series' history, he will look to continue to put his name in the record books. In 2011, the Ferrari F430 Challenge race car will give way to the new Ferrari 458 Challenge as the car of choice for the series.
