Rolex 24 races into the night
Overland Park, Kan. (January 24, 2009) Driving into the night, Raphael Matos continued to drive the No. 55 Supercar Life Level 5 Motorsports BMW Riley Daytona Prototype steadfast and strong. On Lap 70, Matos turned in a fastest lap time of 1:42.802.
Several cautions were thrown out between laps 98-119, slowing down the field. However, Matos only gained positioning taking the # 11 spot. It was on Lap 125 that the No. 55 Daytona Prototype saw its fastest time yet. Turning in
a time of 1:42.643, Matos continued at his pace of 124.859mph when a right rear tire popped causing the fourth caution of the night.
With a quick tire change on pit road, Christophe Bouchut then took over, making this his second time of the night in the No. 55 Daytona Prototype.
It was during the next caution that Bouchut jumped from the #12 spot to the #3 position following leaders Buddy Rice and Scott Dixon of Brumos Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates in the #1 and #2 positions. With 5.5 hours, 7 cautions and 183 laps in, the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona continues to keep the wheels turning.
